Evaluation Services
We provide Independent Psychological Evaluations for Veterans filing direct, secondary, or review claims. Our aim is to support Veterans in filing their claims for VA benefits.
Evaluations for Direct Service Connection
When Veterans are applying for direct service connection, the examiner will explore and document the Veteran's stressors from their military service. Consequently, the examiner will document how these stressors have affected the Veteran's psychological presentation, as well as social and occupational functioning.
Evaluations for Secondary Service Connection
When Veteran's are applying for secondary service connection, the examiner will discuss and document how the Veteran's service connected physical conditions have impacted the Veteran's psychological presentation.
Review Evaluations
Review Evaluations are conducted for Veterans who are already service connected for a psychological condition but may not be receiving a VA rating reflecting the current level of associated impairment. Examiners will assist in providing an updated account of the Veteran's mental health with suggested VA rating.
Evaluations via Telehealth Platform
All examinations provided by Dr. Riddell & Associates are conducted via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Veterans are able to access services if they are present in Texas. Veterans will be provided with a login and technical support as needed.
Evaluation Process
Records Review
Dr. Riddell & Associates will review the Veteran's medical and military records prior to meeting with the examiner. Reviewing the Veteran's medical and military history will provide a clear understanding of potential stressors and their psychological impact.
Background Information + Mental Health Screening
Dr. Riddell & Associates request that the Veteran complete intake paperwork in order to obtain the Veteran's written understanding of their experiences. Mental health screening assists in providing a quantitative understanding of the Veteran's psychological functioning.
Meeting with the Doctor
Dr. Riddell & Associates conduct the evaluations via a HIPAA compliant telehealth platform. Veterans will have a one-time meeting with the doctor. The evaluation will address the components required by the VA for Veterans applying for benefits.
Report, Nexus Letter & Research
Dr. Riddell & Associates will provide the Veteran with a detailed report with associated diagnosis, suggested VA based rating, and nexus letter. Pertinent literature regarding the Veteran's diagnosis and claim will also be included.
